How It Works

PACK-level suppression fights a battery fire where it starts — inside the module. Combined gas, VOC, CO and smoke detectors inside each PACK sense the earliest signs of thermal runaway, and within milliseconds a nozzle injects perfluorohexanone directly onto the failing cell. Because the agent cools the cell and its neighbours, it suppresses the propagation that turns a single cell into a cluster fire, long before room-level systems would even register the event.

Structure & Composition

Each PACK carries an in-module detector assembly and a point-injection nozzle fed from a shared perfluorohexanone supply line. A local controller per rack interlocks with the BMS to cut power before discharge, then releases agent into the target module. The system is modular — one detector-and-nozzle set per PACK — so it scales with the battery without redesign.

Selection Guide

  • High-density battery modules and cabinets where the earliest possible response is critical.
  • Layer PACK-level protection under cluster or room-level flooding for defence in depth.
  • Confirm the BMS interlock is wired so power is cut before every discharge.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q

Why detect gas, VOC and CO, not just smoke?

Thermal runaway emits gases and VOCs before visible smoke, so combined detection triggers seconds earlier than smoke-only systems.

Q

How does point injection work?

A nozzle inside the module sprays perfluorohexanone directly onto the failing cell and its neighbours, cooling them to stop propagation.

Q

Is the agent safe around live electronics?

Yes — perfluorohexanone is non-conductive and residue-free, so it won't damage cells, boards or switchgear.
