FAQ - EPS Emergency Power Supply

What is an EPS emergency power supply?
An EPS is a battery-backed inverter system that supplies emergency lighting, fire protection and critical loads automatically when the normal mains supply fails.
What is the difference between EPS and UPS?
A UPS provides instant (<10 ms) switchover for sensitive electronics, while an EPS is designed for emergency lighting and fire-protection loads with slightly longer transfer and higher inrush capability.
What backup duration is available?
Standard durations are 90 and 120 minutes, selected to match building fire-response and evacuation requirements.
What is a fire-linked EPS?
A fire-linked EPS receives start and interlock signals from the fire-alarm system and coordinates load shedding so fire pumps and smoke-exhaust fans receive priority power.
