FAQ - Low Voltage Switchgear

What is the difference between a distribution board and an MCC?
A distribution board feeds lighting and general circuits, while an MCC (motor control center) houses motor starters, contactors, and drives for industrial motor loads.
Fixed or withdrawable switchgear - which should I choose?
Fixed switchgear is compact and economical but needs de-energization for maintenance. Withdrawable switchgear lets a unit be racked out and serviced without affecting other circuits.
What is Form separation in switchgear?
Form separation (Forms 1-4) defines internal partitioning between busbars, devices, and terminals for safety and maintenance. Higher forms improve safety but increase size and cost.
How is the busbar rating selected?
The busbar rating is the connected load multiplied by the demand factor plus a 25% margin. QDTB busbars are available from 400 A to 6,300 A.
