How It Works

A data collector logs high-frequency generation, voltage and current data from the plant and forwards it to the SCADA or cloud. Where a gateway focuses on protocol conversion, the collector focuses on high-density logging — capturing the fine-grained data needed for performance analysis, warranty claims and grid-compliance reporting.

Structure & Composition

The collector provides high-density logging storage, multiple RS485/Ethernet inputs and Modbus/MQTT output. It samples at configurable intervals and timestamps every record, retaining data locally as a buffer against uplink loss. Its event and alarm capture records the exact conditions around any fault for later diagnosis.

Selection Guide

  • Choose the collector for plants that need high-resolution logging for analysis or compliance.
  • Confirm the sampling interval and storage depth meet the site's reporting requirements.
  • Use it alongside a gateway where both protocol conversion and dense logging are needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q

Gateway or data collector?

A gateway translates protocols and concentrates devices; a collector focuses on high-frequency logging for analysis and compliance.

Q

What data is logged?

Generation, voltage, current, power factor and alarm events, timestamped at configurable intervals.

Q

Can it feed SCADA directly?

Yes — it outputs Modbus/MQTT to the SCADA or cloud platform.
