How It Works

A data gateway concentrates the many protocols of a PV plant — inverter RS485, meter Modbus, sensor 4-20 mA — onto a single uplink to the cloud or SCADA. It buffers data locally so short network outages lose nothing, and it is the device that makes a fleet of mixed-vendor equipment appear as one coherent plant on the monitoring dashboard.

Structure & Composition

The gateway carries multiple downstream ports (RS485, Ethernet, digital inputs) and an upstream link (4G, Ethernet or WiFi). A local store buffers logged data, and a protocol engine translates between Modbus, MQTT and vendor-specific registers. It is DIN-rail mounted inside the plant cabinet, powered by a wide-range DC supply.
