⚙How It Works
Heterojunction (HJT) cells fuse a crystalline silicon wafer with ultra-thin amorphous silicon layers, forming passivated contacts on both faces without the high-temperature steps of PERC or TOPCon. The result is the highest open-circuit voltage and bifaciality in the range, plus an excellent low-temperature-coefficient and low-light response. HJT is the platform of choice where every extra watt-per-square-metre counts.
▦Structure & Composition
The HJT module uses an n-type wafer with intrinsic and doped amorphous-silicon stacks on front and rear, a transparent conductive oxide (TCO) electrode and a symmetric double-glass, double-foil construction. Because both faces are active, the bifacial factor approaches 95 %, and the low-temperature process keeps the wafer strong, reducing micro-crack risk during handling and transport.

Applications
Selection Guide
- Premium residential, floating solar, desert and high-albedo sites where maximum energy density is worth the premium.
- Choose HJT when the array is space-constrained and every square metre must produce at its maximum.
- Exploit the near-95 % bifaciality with high, reflective mounting for the best return.
Frequently Asked Questions
What makes HJT cells special?
Amorphous-silicon passivated contacts on both sides give the highest open-circuit voltage, bifaciality and low-light performance, at a higher price point.
Why is HJT good for floating or desert plants?
Its low temperature coefficient and strong low-light response keep yield high in extreme heat and diffuse light, and the double-glass build resists humidity and sand abrasion.
Is HJT worth the premium?
In space-constrained or high-value sites the extra generation per square metre typically recovers the premium within the plant's early years.
