UHV (Ultra-High Voltage)
Voltage levels above 800 kV AC or +/-800 kV DC for bulk power transmission over very long distances.
UHV exceeds 800 kV AC or +/-800 kV DC for long-distance bulk transmission (1,000-3,000 km). AC: 1,000/1,100 kV; DC: +/-800/1,100 kV. Single circuit: 5,000-12,000 MW.
UHV transformers are extremely demanding: BIL > 2,100 kV, stringent PD limits, high reliability. China leads with 30+ lines.
