Voltage levels 245-800 kV for bulk power transmission over long distances.
XHV/EHV: 245-800 kV AC for bulk transmission (100-1,000 km). Lower current = reduced losses for same power. 345 kV: 400-1,000 MW; 500 kV: 1,000-2,000 MW; 750 kV: 2,000-4,000 MW.
Challenges: BIL 1,175-2,100 kV, complex field management, stringent PD limits, exceptional reliability. Typically autotransformer configurations.
