Voltage Regulation

Performance Parameters

The change in secondary voltage from no-load to full-load as a percentage, indicating voltage stability.

Voltage regulation measures ability to maintain stable output as load varies: %Reg = (Vnl - Vfl)/Vfl x 100%. Good regulation (2-4%) is desirable.

Worsens with higher impedance, lower PF (lagging), unbalanced loading. Leading PF can cause negative regulation (voltage rises).

Poor regulation requires larger OLTC ranges or additional equipment. Utilities specify maximum for consumer voltage limits.

QDTB optimizes impedance and winding design for excellent regulation while balancing short-circuit withstand.
