Eddy currents are circulating currents induced in conductive materials by changing magnetic fields. Occur in core laminations, windings, structural parts.

Core losses proportional to lamination thickness squared, frequency, flux density. Thin laminations (0.23-0.35mm) interrupt paths. Combined with hysteresis loss = total core loss.

In structural parts, cause stray losses contributing to load loss. Minimized through shielding.
