Design & Engineering

Coils of insulated conductors in a transformer carrying current and linking magnetic flux for energy transfer.

Windings are coils of insulated conductors (copper/aluminum) wound around the core forming primary and secondary circuits. Enable energy transfer via electromagnetic induction.

Types: helical (LV), disc-type (HV large transformers), layer-type (distribution), foil-type (cast resin). Each optimized for voltage, current, cooling.

Considerations: insulation coordination, thermal design (cooling ducts), mechanical strength (short-circuit bracing), electrical parameters (impedance).

QDTB designs and manufactures using premium conductors with optimized geometry. Selection guide covers material selection.
