NEMA Rating
Enclosure protection ratings for electrical equipment specifying protection against environmental hazards.
NEMA ratings define enclosure protection against dust, water, ice, corrosive agents. Used in North America with IEEE and ANSI standards.
Common: NEMA 1 (indoor), NEMA 3R (outdoor rain/ice—most common for accessories), NEMA 4 (splashing water), NEMA 4X (corrosion resistant), NEMA 12 (indoor dust). Analogous to IEC IP ratings.
Relevant for marshalling boxes, control cabinets, pad-mounted enclosures.
