Grounding Transformer
A transformer providing a neutral point for grounding in ungrounded or delta-connected systems.
A grounding transformer provides a neutral for grounding in systems lacking one—typically ungrounded or delta systems. Enables connection of protection devices and neutral resistors.
Typically zig-zag or wye-delta. Zig-zag provides low zero-sequence impedance for ground fault currents while presenting high impedance to normal currents.
Applications: industrial plant grounding, wind turbine collector grounding. See grounding system guide.
QDTB designs grounding transformers in zig-zag and wye-delta, rated for continuous neutral current and short-time fault current. Reactor products include neutral grounding options.
