Quality Oil (Insulating Fluid)
High-grade mineral or synthetic insulating fluid with optimized dielectric, thermal, and chemical properties for transformer service.
Transformer quality insulating oil serves dual functions: electrical insulation (high dielectric strength) and heat transfer (cooling windings and core). Quality defined by IEC 60296 and ASTM D3487.
Key parameters: breakdown voltage (>30 kV/2.5mm for new oil), moisture content (<10 ppm for EHV), acidity (<0.01 mg KOH/g), gas stability, oxidation inhibitors.
Mineral oils dominate; alternatives: natural ester (FR3), silicone oil (fire-safe), synthetic hydrocarbon. Choice depends on application—dry-type transformers eliminate oil entirely for indoor fire safety.
QDTB fills all oil-immersed transformers with premium inhibited mineral oil meeting IEC 60296. Natural ester options available for environmentally sensitive renewable energy projects.
